76% of Tanoshii members have gained discipline by attending our classes.

100% of Tanoshii members are happy with their judo/ physical progression.

65% of Tanoshii members are interested in competing.

We had lots of positive comments about our website, communication and extra-curricular activities.

  • "I hope it can add some online courses"

We will be adding an 'Online Dojo' to our website and will release videos throughout the year that can be accessed from home.

"Progress updates on the children since viewing not currently allowed"

We will post snapshots of each tier of class on our social media so you can see what is happening. We will also add feedback at grading time on behaviour, application and progress. When restrictions allow, we will also create a 'parents evening' so you can watch your child's class.

"Great to get feedback from Adults. What about kids also?"

We regularly ask for feedback during our classes, but we will now create a survey for the children to take on their way out of a class every 6 months.

"Opportunities for coaching experience / mentoring"

We currently run a 'young coaches programme' where our older athletes get the chance to gain coaching experience. 5 of our members are volunteering and 2 are employed part-time. All will be offered coaching courses over the coming year to further develop their skills. We are also in discussions with a partnership club to create an apprenticeship pathway for young people who want to learn about coaching judo and running a business.

    Competition Experience

As 65% of our members are interested in competitions, we will be bringing back our Tanoshii Rumble this year. We will also be highlighting some events that we deem suitable and will have coaches attending. Also, we are looking to create some inter-club training sessions with our friends across the Edinburgh area.

  • Many congratulations to the below award winners:

    Kai Award (u8): Duncan Tanner

Duncan sets a great example in the dojo with his enthusiasm, effort, and overall behaviour. This has been reflected in the great improvements we have seen in his judo.

    Mon Award (8-11): Alex Moss

Alex's dedication to judo is displayed through his tenacity during training. He attends multiple times a week and is keen to work on all aspects of his judo.

    Kyu Award (12+): Eve Toner

Whenever Eve enters the dojo it brings a smile to everyone's face. She has shown great leadership throughout the pandemic as a volunteer, player, and entertainer.

Jigoro Kano - spirit of judo award: Dominic Waring

For a fantastic first year as both a volunteer and part-time coach. Dominic has not only taken great strides in his own judo development, but has helped to develop the skills of the young Tanoshii members he teaches. He is a great ambassador for the club both on and off the judo mat.
